The chord is built by counting 'Three 4ths and a 3rd' , holding it together with your left and right hand. For example, E & A on the left, while right hand plays G, D & B.     Concern about the 3rd and 7th notes

    Sir, should we only use the 3rd and the 7th notes only in its major form, how about the minor form? That is, 1. Can I make my maj.3rd above the qaurtal voicing a minor 3rd? 2. In determining the root, can I make my first note a minor 3rd, and minor 7th?
